I ask Andy Green to describe the differences in handling a Tornado fight plane and Thrust SSC. “The car has a lot more acceleration than a jet fighter,” he says. “It has two jet fighter engines with half the weight of a jet fighter – tremendous acceleration.” He says he enjoyed his “holiday” from the RAF while moonlighting with the Thrust team. “You only run when the weather is nice, everything is good for you and the vehicle is perfectly sensible.”
